$%$#!%#@ !$^!$^ !$^$!#^

I can't for the life of me figure out a workaround.  You know what I'm thinking... don't unload the movies, just hide em.  It's one heck of a memory leak, but what can you do. Try that and see if it works for you.

Hey Joe,

I selected all frames in my content file.
I then made a new movie clip in the admintest file and pasted all the content frames into it.
After that I dragged this new clip on to the stage (first frame of admintest file). set the clips visibile attribute to false.

And its working!! Grin

Im not sure if this is beacause the admintest file now has a dataset/datagrid/xmlconnecter in its first frame or what... This solution may not be good for you given the size and scope of your app but atleast it appears to be working.

Im waiting for my host to run the SQL script I have given him to make my DB. When he does Ill give you a link to see it running.

BTW having that content file as a clip in the admintest file made the swf size = 110KB, should be acceptable even to dial-up. Ill send the new files if you want..just let me know.

Yeah, that will get you around the problem but defeats the purpose of keeping the swfs external. The only workaround I've come up with, and it isn't that good, is to never unload the movies -- just hide them off the stage. I can see this really becoming  a performance issue in the future.

I agree that its not very elegant at all but it is still much better loading the admin section at a 110kb and keep the rest external than loading all at once which would be close to a MB

I am still unloading the movies from memory too so that penalty is eliviated

Whoa! I misunderstood your workaround. I thought you were just pasting all the content from your child swfs into your parent. Clearly, you're not if your parent stays small. Please explain to me what's going on here so I can do it to mine.

PS: I saw your thread on UltraShock Wink

"PS: I saw your thread on UltraShock  "

You got me  ;) ;D

All I did was:

[*] Use the "edit multpile frames" button. Then selected all the frames from the content file (was the smallest)
[*] Pasted them into a new mc in the admintest file.
[*] Dragged that mc onto the first frame of the admintest file
[*] Set the visibility attribute to false
[*] Chucked it off stage somewhere
    [/list]

And for some reason this allows all the other files with grids etc in them to work without error. Im not even using that mc i pasted frames into...Im still only using the components in my external files.

I dont understand why I/we got this error in the first place so I guess it stands to reason why I also dont understand why this fix works.

Want me to send you the new file?
