I need to somehow create a search feature that will search through an Access database and return and display the info. I don't really know much about how to integrate flash and a database, but I seem to think that using an asp page or a php script would be the best way to go about it. The search function will probably involve 'checking' a few options off (to search more than one category) and then submitting this to the database, which will then have to return the results (with text and graphics) to flash. It doesn't have to be done in flash (could be done with just html), but I figure it would look alot nicer if it was done in flash.  But I'm sure it would be alot easier to do with a simple html page. Anyways, would anyone be able to point me in the direction of an example script, or a tutorial that could get me started? I'm not the best with php (and have actually never had to work with asp pages), but I'm sure I can figure it out - I've had to in the past!  Smiley

Thanks in advance!

I would try it first in HTML - as this will be a lot easier at first.

I would use ASP if your using Access.  If you where using a different database - I would recommend using which ever scripting language your more comfortable with, If you had experience with ASP - then use asp, if you had experience with PHP - then use PHP.

Their's not all that much of a difference between the two - mostly syntax.  The more you use both of them though you realize that it's just the format of the data your loading that matters.

PHP might be easier to learn at first, that and their's quite a few more people that would post scripts to help out.  Once you learn one of them - the second is always easier to get a hang of.

I can post a script that will do this with php/MySQL - I don't happen to have any cut and paste scripts that will do this for asp however.  So If you still need it I can post something that will take care of this for you.

Thank you for your post Jeff! That'd be great if you could post an example! You were also saying that it would be a php/MySQL script... would that mean I'd have to export the Access database into SQL format?

Thanks again
