Since many users ask me privately questions, and answer the same many times is embarrassing, here's a general explanation for those who think that the better is to ask some moderator instead of asking trough Boards:

The spirit of Boards is to share knowledge between the Flash comunity, and doing that, solving problems for all users having the same problem. Sharing knowledge is the spirit of this Board and also from this site. So answer privately is more oriented to solve a user problem, not to help the Flash comunity. So if you think that your problem should be answered privately for any reason, just pay someone to solve your problem (you can pay me of course  Wink) , as you will pay any other specialist for fix your car or reform your house. But don't expect to be answered privately, because this is not the spirit of this site ... or at least of this moderator (each mod is free to follow his own path)

So, nothing personally, just the way I feel things should work.
So, post your questions on Boards.

Thanks
Jorge

Also many users show url to download his movies to understand better his problem and fix them if possible.

I understand this could be faster in helping (just see and fix) but again, this is more a private help than a comunity help. Explaining problems and post code force you to:

  • know how to explain the problem (sometimes this shows that the focus is on the wrong place, because nobody understand your problem nor can help you) Explain some problem to others is the first step in solution.
  • discover that probably the problem is structurally (because you can't explain what happens whitout using a 100 lines POST of explanation)
  • focus of some portion of code, that means you have a least some idea about what's happening. This also filter the "copy&paste" guys (symptom-> POST with 200 lines of code ... "here's the code I use")

Building a first analysis by yourself makes answers easiest and faster.

This is the reason I have disabled uploads. Anyway is just my opinion and alot of Boards allow to upload files, and alot of mods download/studyng/fix for you. Please, contact them, not me asking to download some file.

More on the last

Sometimes problems are based on context (other functions, other variables, other classes defined along the movie) not on particular code. To post some problem you should focus the place where the problem can be. If not, the problems doesn't appear in the code and the obvious answer is your code is fine. If you can find and post the entire code of your movie, probably nobody want to read a soo long post.

Lately I have seem this kind of posts:

I'm building a Flash applications that load data from a db, reescale, resize, animate, print ... etc, but can't fix the function that do XXX
Download from XXX and take a look.

This sounds like you're looking for someone to do your work, while the spirit of a Board is to learn sharing experiences.
So if you want to solve a problem post a question. If you want that someone else do the job for you, pay for it.

Greate Posts Jorge!
This had to be said and schould be on some exposed position of the boards.
There are allways some people around trying to abuse the boards to make somebody else do the work for free.
The most of us are freelancers and are willing and able to do some work - but we are living on it.
Helping is only possible if the one asking is willing to learn and cooperate.

We have to make a living somehow.  Not everything in this world is free....it would be really nice to have not everything on this site free.  Possibly adding a section for paid help, so our hard working web developers can get something out of all of their hard work.  With all of the information and tutorials Jorge has put on this site, he could have written a very good book on dynamic Flash and Flash remoting.  Instead he chose to share this information for FREE with all of us.  I think some occasional posetive encouragment towards his work in the form of monetary compensation could go a long way.
