Can anyone point me in the right direction. I found this website flashnexus through google and it looks awesome. I am NOT looking for someone to hold my hand and walk me through it, but rather direct me in what are the necessary tools and knowledge needed in order to duplicate the IRC chat room in perhaps PHP or XML while maintaining the flash interface.  I am new to both, but catch on real quick.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'll look into this a bit more.  And try to have something for ya, right now i'm not that familiar with irc and php.  But this post got me interested and I started looking around at php.net.

You might want to look over:

for now.

Looks like a tough install and you'll need to have some custom applications added to your server (as indicated on that link) - which can become somewhat difficult.

You might want to take a look at the chat server at www.moock.org - I forget exactly where it is on that site but you should be able to find it.

That one uses the XML socket functions in flash and would be easier to use then creating a new one in PHP/irc.

The only requirements for that one are an available port above 1024 - and the ability to run Java on your server.
