hello... for those who want a news manager on their website.. here it is... download the source from: http://mohsinsumar.250free.com/news_manager.rar

this is also included in the rar archieve!!

---------------------------------------------TUTORIAL--------------------------------------------------------

AUTHOR
-------
This news manager was compiled by me. The news displayer, which is the mainnews.fla was by Yoga. I used his fla to make this. I made this to be fully working. His
source wasnt fully in English and had some files missing. So I compiled it with all the files and
is now fully capable of working.

Thank you for your interest in downloading the news manager.
If you have any problems with it, you can contact me directly on my email:
mohsinsumar@hotmail.com
But i would recommend you to reply on this thread of the forum:

http://www.flash-db.com/Board/index.php?board=19;action=display;threadid=3095

Extract the file news_manager.rar with WinRAR (download from http://www.rarlab.com).

INSTRUCTIONS
------------
I have assumed that you have extracted the files from the archieve.
The archieve contains the following files:

1. ReadMe.txt --> this file
2. admin.php
3. adminnews.txt
4. news.php
5. mainnews.fla
6. news-admin.fla

Publish the files mainnews.fla and news-admin.fla. Upload the files that will be created, namely,

mainnews.swf, mainnews.html, news-admin.html and news-admin.swf. Upload the adminnews.txt,

admin.php and the news.php to a folder on your webserver.

This is the most important part:
--------------------------------
CHMOD the adminnews.txt to be writable, readable and executable by all. Or telnet the file to 777

or 666. If 777 doesnt work due to security problems than use 666.

Thats it!!
Please link to my website!! www.mohsinsumar.tk
-------------------------------------------END---------------------------------------------------

Please post here if u have any problems!!

Hi Mohsin,

I wanted to give your News Manager tutorial a try, but I am confused as to one thing.

While i'm figuring this out, I'm working on a local install of Apache, mySQL and PHP, with all my files (swfs, php etc) being located in the /htdocs folder of the Program Files/Apache folder. (My installs and setups are good, I'm pretty sure, as I have previously had the 'saveMovie' tutorial working locally on the same machine)

In relation to this setup, would you know where I need to put the /bin folder to hold my CHMOD file, adminnews.txt? Would it be a sub dir in the /htdocs folder?

Also, perhaps you know how to CHMOD files locally? It's easy enough to do it through an FTP client, but locally, I can't figure how to change the permissions.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Hi there Mohsin,

Thanks for your reply.

Maybe this might help me (and maybe others with the same question)

http://www.flash-db.com/Board/index.php?board=19;action=display;threadid=977

All about CHMOD and how to deal with it.

Cheers
