I have tried to make a guestbook from your instructions word for word. As soon I make a test entry into it, it returns in the window:--

Loading comments from NaN to NaN

then it shows

"
 '
for ($n=$NumLow;$n

in between the buttons previous 10 and next 10 it says ($Nu-$Nu)

and in the Total GuestBook entries it says  $NumEnt  in red

I know I've done something wrong, but I cant work it out, I've checked all the coding and it appears correct. Can anyone help please

Thanks
Stu

This code be a syntax error in the code - or the server that your running the script on is not processing the php code correctly.  This could be due to the server having a slightly different configuration for php or it does not have php running at all.

Their are a couple other threads on this error.  If possible create a php file and place the following code in it.

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Also view this thread:

http://www.flash-db.com/Board/index.php?board=12;action=display;threadid=42

Then try to get back to me with any additional information that you think will help to answer the question.  I"ll try to get you a good answer as soon as possible.

Try entering in the complete path to the GuestBook.php file on your server.  For example:  http://www.YourSite.com/GuestBook/GuestBook.php

If their is an error in your script it will print out that error on the screen.  Try that out.  I"ll look over your script for any errors as well right now.

Thanks Jeff for your help,

It works!!!

I guess my server that I am using was very slow in allocating the permissions to the guestbook.txt file

I checked the server out using the test.php and it states that it is using php 4.0.6. , what a neat trick that is, it's a little gem.

I have never done any coding before apart from a little asp, thats all. I have made your brilliant site my homepage, and I'm going to try and learn php.

Thanks again
