I tried the "Installing Apache 2.0, PHP 4.2, MySQL 3.23, and PHPMyAdmin" tutorial on flashkit.com and for some reason I can't get the TestSQL.php file to work. I keep getting an error in my server log that says I don't have access. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying my hardest to learn this as soon as possible. My ICQ number is 8390236 if you have it otherwise please send me an email at eamidon@mindspring.com

thanks... Huh

crap, but now I can't get phpMyAdmin to work.

I get the following Error:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.2.6

Error

MySQL said:

Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So what the heck is wrong? I have the username and password the same in the "my.ini" file and in the "config.inc.php" file. Is there anything else I should know about?

Thanks for putting up with me....

Is MySQL running - you can check with the "Stop Light" icon on the bottom right of your screen.  This should show a "Green" light if it's running.  A red light if it's stopped.

This sounds like the problem - But I'm guessing that would be just a little to easy and you've already checked that.

I can't think of two many other reasons though - are you still getting this Error.

Alot of times it's just playing around with it for a while until you find the correct settings - I know annoying but eventually it always works.
