Hey,

Just had a few quick questions for Mac users on this site.  I've been changing a ton of things around.  Not just on this message board - but if you view any of the tutorials etc.  You'll notice them.

If you are a Mac user - if possible let me know if everything is working or appears to be working.  It's impossible to keep track of everything, and their's a good chance that something somewhere is not working properly for all OS's.

Also if you really want to test some items out - it might be useful to delete the cookies from your cache (Or at least the one from this site) - and then try logging back in - And this goes for anyone else.  Since I changed all of the Login and registration features into Flash - their could possibly be some issues.

I'm going to be changing a lot more things around so If their are any errors hopefully their temporary - If they persist please send me a quick email and I'll fix the problem asap.

One other item is that this message board is located on a shared server - which can have somewhat slow connection times at certain times of the day.  I apologize for this - and hopefully I'll be moving servers sometime in the near future.

Thanks for any time put into a reply to this.

Hi Jeff,

as another non-windows, non-IE user I'd like to say that the board is working well. I just wonder whether it is actually sending notify emails.
One suggestion: moving to next / prev thread would be nice...

Jeff, Im using Windows XP the IE (of course... who would dare use anything else?!).  But I have an added question for the pple who are still using Netscape...
Netscape users, Does everything work well on Flash -DB with your browsers?  I know that Netscape has trouble with flash a lot of times and am curious to see if Flash-DB has found a way around it.

Thanks!

Hi Romwin,

I am quite happy (after speeding up and adding memory lately)
In general there are not too many netscape / flash problems, and they can probably be as annoying as the IE / flash problems.
Some of the problems can be attributed to the plugin writers, and the worst problem are usually web designers that use the term "optimized for" to show that they are unable to create cross-browser sites.

BTW: what kind of protection do you have, if you still dare to use IE? Sad

Protection, whats protection?  I have a gun does that count?  Hehe just kidding.  I use Zone Alarm if thats what you mean.

I used to have a copy of Netscape that I checked my sites with, but when I changed computers last year I didn't reinstall it.  So actually I wasn't sure how bad Flash and Netscape interacted... I had just heard the rumors, so I thought I'd finally ask about it...

Thanks Musicman

Maybe this sounds inconsidarate to the Internet viewing population (as a whole)...but it's all about target market!

I was very pleased when I saw that Pale E rans sweet on Netscape 3.0 (with the help of macromedia's cleverly crafted f5 plug-in)...
But I was very NOT pleased having to explain what 'flash was' to the idiot using it.

Just like target shooting with a shotgun...
You aren't gonna get em all, but you'll certainly tear a BIG Chunk outta the target.

The way I see 'browser compatipility', it's not the challange of ensuring that EVERY single person on the web can check out a site (that'll drive you CRAZY), but those that you want to see it will.

HAve fun!

Hi Romwin,

zone alarm probably can stop programs that want to open a listening or connect to some outside server, but it will not protect you from malicious code that tricks the browser or the mailer into submitting html forms or sending mails. I am also not sure whether it will really prevent active x controls that do unwanted things (such as changing your internet settings to dial a 0900 phone number)
Here IE's "ease of use" approach really can cause harm - when viewing the same bad sites with a different browser you will have to download and then double click some software, so it is less likely to go unnoticed.
