Hi coderunner

As you told: it's free, and users are free to use it. We do our best as far as the we have time. Post the bugs you find on Boards (not on this thread) so we can take a look.

I like these boards, they are easy to navigate and easy to understand, its a nice international community of flashers, designers and developers both. People are helpful and at times go overboard with actually doing stuff for you (Jorge, thanks for that, especially the recent menu tutorial you made for James in the Flash 8 board, very nice). Its a great place, i think being design picky is natural and although the boards and site are a bit outdated, Id have to say its one of the most functional community sites ive every visited. As for payment like subscription I think its fine but i also think that many new users and newbies would be turned away, advanced flashers would definately be turned away, cause lets all be honest, if you have some years experience, and you are working with a project, with or without help, you will most likely solve the problem. At least, you def  wont have to pay to solve it, there will be some free board out there somewhere which will give enough help to get you on the right track. I would rather see something like yahoo ads or google ads which is kinda ugly but does make money, and those who really wanna spend money on components or what not can just click and buy, they are happy, Flash DB gets paid.
As for the idea of a Flash interface, i dont think its good, in fact im in support of migrating everything to HTML with the execption of the Banner and the buttons in the banner, they would be restyled, but moving it all to flash would, and im speculating, damage the search engine indexing. I think with google ads and a nicely designed HTML interface and some good META tags, the community could really grow even bigger, which is only good for all, if you are running affiliate space, then the greater the population the more money the boards make which makes it a bit easier on the moderators. the more members the better and faster the help. This site is about information for flashers and help for those who need it, its not about killer design or awesome graphics, if you wanna see that then you can go to www.thefwa.com, this is a community helping eachother, and if anything the community members need to get more involved, no more sign up with one question and then never return, which i see very often. If the community grows tighter the moderators can have more help and work less, not including the maintainence though.
anyway, those are my thoughts, make it a bit prettier and get people involved.

Yeah! For me, flash-db is the best place to learn flash, php, and database. There are a lot of flash tutorial websites which teach us about the design and actionscripts, but to make applications, I come first to flash-db. Many many thanks to flash-db. Looking forward for more tutorials... Wink

Just wanted to say I'm pretty new to Flash (about 6 months) and I had to teach it to myself for my uni project. This place is the best flash website I've found by far! Jorge's tutorials in particular have helped me on a number of occasions.

So yeah.. I love this place.. and I hope to be good enough some day to be a flash geek and help others in here Cool

Hello in my opinion, the home page of the site  should be very informative. The skin should look something different & attractive. Effort should be made to improve the site and to make the service better.
thanks.

Which services would you expect?
Would you be willing to pay for services?
Which information do you expect at the front page?

I think Flash-DB should charge an annual fee to it's users. And, I think the money collected should should be paid to the moderators by popular vote of the users. I wouldn't mind paying for the service I get from Flash-DB ( especially musicman) so, if everyone else would pay...I would too...and you already know who I'd vote for to collect the most cash  Grin.  Keep up the good work you guys...I really do appreciate it !!

We have released the new Homepage and will integrate with the rest of the site, also we're releasing the new flex frameworks series in an effort to update our content. Anyone is invited to publish content, just contact me privately

This is 21st century, the forum style is as old as 90s,so i would recommend admin to change the board to vBulletin,  which is more user-friendly and functional.

well, I like the site, but there is something that stops me from coming here often
possibly, because Im not using too much backend and about frontend there are more forums (actually too many) to choose from.
I agree with Andresss, changing the skin will help a lot.
There is something here that other places (communities) doesnt have and is the backend's focus, and I think you should promote it more.
For sure, most of the people (web developers) in the world that have a flash guestbook are using your guestbook (Im one of them) and thats good

We have released the new Homepage

Love the new home page and looking forward to seeing the new forum look.

A few ideas;
I'd like to see is a specific board section and tutorials on mobile device development.
A board section and tutorials on design patterns in AS3.
An effective search engine for all site content.

I was unable to access the site the site for several days, not sure if this was a caching issue on my end but I'm glad it's back, and better looking!
