I want to make a simple website, one page (text only) has to be able to be changed in a quick and easy way. Maybe something with a login name and a really simple editor. How can I do this? thanks in advance

Normaly, wahn you have a website, you receive a ftp access to the site.
This is password protected.
So you write your text, and then upload it via ftp.
You can do this as often as you like.

I'd recommend WordPress. Odds are you can find hosting with Fantastico, which will give you a one click intall for WordPress. Any linux hosting that uses cPanel as a control panel should have Fantastico installed.
Even if you have to install WordPress manually it's not difficult.
Then find a theme you like and start creating pages. You'll be able to edit pages by logging into WordPress and editing as you would with Word.

For a single page, it makes no sense installing a CMS System.
This is the absolute overkill

I think the easiest way would be for you to open a free blogger account at
http://www.blogger.com
- that way you don't need to pay for hosting, and when you login you will be taken to an editor where you can make a post. You can change the post whenever you like by logging into your account. And they have a lot of templates for you to choose from. An alternative to blogger is
http://www.wordpress.com
which I can't say much about because I haven't used it myself.
