Stock quotes example bugs...

Hi

I'm starting to fool around with flash and I wanted to run the realTime stockquote flash example you have on your site.

Using Flash 6 MX french trial, I loaded the sample you provide and when I try to test it
i get the following error.
Error opening URL "file:///F|/Flash/RequestStockQuote.php?Symbol=nvda"

the file is there in the same folder as the flash file, but I can't get any stock quotes to appear.
But it work fine when I use the one on your website.

any clues?

Not bug in example.. (im not 100 % sure)

Error opening URL "file:///F|/Flash/RequestStockQuote.php?Symbol=nvda"

It uses ReguestStockQuote.php and you need php in your pc to test it.

Did you try upload it to server and run there.. ?

ok, no i dont have a php server.

Is it easy to setup? free?

can I point to another server over the web?

Here's a our thread about free accounts to servers that host php: http://www.flash-db.com/Board/index.php?board=19;action=display;threadid=17

PHP is free, www.php.net - but setting up by yourself, I don't think it gonna work out, if you aren't a server admin. If u are server admin, then you can do it.

what server u are using ?

What kinda experience you got of the server you are using ?

Best way is learn thru examples / try out , but i want save you for needless mistakes & crying & "waste of time" & crying

oh i just want to kid with that stuff so I may try it on my old Win NT4 server
and try to get things going.

I assume I need to get IIs running, then maybe MySQL and after that i'll try to load php over.

i'm on holydays

Here's something http://www.flash-db.com/ApachePHPSQL/ It's about Installing Apache (It's a web serv. too), PHP and MySql to pc.. well..that's different than a installing to a NT 4 server. hrmm

http://www.mysql.com/ got docs to MySql installing. The IIS installing, find by ya self
http://www.php.net is place for installing php
