openamf (AS3 flash, java)

Is it obsolete now work with openamf? 
if no, Why is there little or not at all a tutorial on the subject ?

Since the major Adobe system are targeted for Java, openamf becomes a little outdated. I'm talking about BlazeDS (free) and LyveCycles (non free), both based on amf to pass data along
