I have to agree - the workspace is a bit cluttered. I just got a 21" monitor, thinking that would help, but it still seems like there is always a window in the way. At work I have a 2 monitor setup, and it's much easier to use. Just the main workspace and tools on the big one, and all the panels panes and pallettes on the other monitor. Just having the AS editor on another monitor is helpful.

A small gripe: The pc version lets you dock the tools pallette right next to the layers. The mac version doesn't do this. What gives??

I think my biggest complaint is with the components. Don't get me wrong, I think they're great, but I don't understand why they didn't just make them movie clips in a shared library or something. I was never really a fan of smart clips either tho. I just wish the components were regular movie clips, and that to use you just dragged them from the library onto the stage. The parameters could just be variables you have to change in AS or something. I don't like having a component on the stage, mainly because you can't just double click a component and edit it, you have to find the right part in the library and edit that. I just find it more intuitive to explore a new code example or whatever by double clicking my way through it, vs trying to find where it begins and ends in the library.

    Ok - enough whining!

jeff - looking good on the tutorials! I'll try to get one or 2 together before the weekend.

    Psx

Yeah I just figured that out the day before yesterday...it is quite nice if you don't like all of those panels.  I accidentally hit tab and they all disappeared.  I meant to post it, but I forgot.

Yeah I really don't like the components too much either.  They are a pain to edit.  You have to change the skins and then you can't see how it looks when you are designing it.  You can actually make your own components for MX.  I have not attempted this yet.  They also have additional components that have been released......UIcomponents2 and charting componenets.....go to this site...
    http://dynamic.macromedia.com/bin/MM/exchange
You will have to download the extension manager first.....then download the extensions.
    -calender component
    -draggable pane component
    -icon button component
    -messagebox component
    -progreeivebar component
    -split view component
    -ticker component
    -tree component

They can be helpful, but are a little hard to work with.  Macromedia could have made them a little more user friendly. Lates.

Yeah....it might be the cgi thing...I think that it checks for a cookie on your computer to check if you have a member name....Just go to http://www.macromedia.com
Go to downloads on the FlashMX movie at the top > go to flash extensions....there will be a link to download the extesion manager....you need it before you can install the extensions.
