    jpgs and quality
    « on: 08/14/03, 23:33 »
    I'm having a strange problem with jpgs in my movie.  When I publish the swf, the jpgs just don't look good.  When I zoom up they appear mosaic-y and rough.  The originals I imported are really the highest quality jpgs.

    However,  when I told the quality of my swf to medium, the jpgs look much better.  When I put the quality back to high, they remain good.  In this state, when I zoom up they never get that mosaic look but instead appear smooth and if anything, slightly blurry-which looks way better than the square mosaic look.

    Has anyone noticed this or had similar problems?

    Thanks.

    Chris E.

    What version of Flash? and Are you importing them into the Fla?

    If it's MX I would say try loadMovie("myPic.jpg");

    Actually I figured it out.  I didn't realize there was a _quality="best" setting.  I thought "high" was the top dog.  When I set the movie to "best" the pics look great (or at least how I want them to look after setting their compression rates.

    Thanks.
