GuestBook and dealing with levels ???
    « on: 10/07/03, 02:17 »
Hey Guys,  I am a newly graduated Multimedia student and I need
all the professional advice to help me perfect my craft.

I downloaded that great flash guestbook from this site and everything works
fine, at least by it self ( as is I mean).

I modified it to my specifications and then I attempted to load it in my site by using
loadMovieNum and it loaded as a flash file (no problem loading) but it no longer worked.

I tried to make it part of the main .swf instead and because it is not on the root level it still
doesn't work.  I understand that the new paths must be established in order for the
variables to work but which lines of the actionscript do you modify and which parts
    do you not touch?

Information on site         File situated on =>>    _level0.mainpage.montage

I'm hoping someone can shine some light on my problem and I vow to help others in the future when I have learned enough to respond.

Frank  ( I really am grateful for any respones, thanks )

    Jorge,
Your link helped me figure out my problem, thanks !!!!

I uploaded it on the server of my website and it worked fine
due to the fact that I configured the permissions properly but
unfortunately, I uploaded the guestbook.swf on my customer's
server (I redid their site so they already had their own server set up)
and it doesn't allow me to modify the permissions so I am still one step
away from it finally working on my customer's site.

Besides right clicking on the files themselves and changing all the
permissions on each, is there a way of changing the overall permissions
            on a server ????

                                       Frank

( this website and its members really help - thanks guys !!!!)

You need to have root acces to change Server configuration. You need to ask your customers for the server Admin person.
