IE6 wont show dotted borders

I use a Mac and a PC and the Mac IE5.2 will show ........style="border-top:1px #ffffff dotted;.... etc as dotted borders but IE6 on the PC will show the borders as "dashed"

Does any one know of a work around to this problem without using an image.
